2.25.09 update
Lily is doing great! She's a good eater and sleeper. Michael and I have been very fortunate. When we went in for her 2 week check up Lily still wasn't up to her birth weight, she was at 10.8, so the doctor wants us to go back again. Lily has been spitting up the last couple of days, so we'll ask the doctor about that tomorrow when she goes in for another weight check. Lily loves the car so far as well. We went for a drive to Highland Park and Deerfield yesterday and she slept the entire time. When we stopped driving she fussed, but as soon as we started going, she was out. I hope this is a good sign for us since we like to take long road trips. Bean and Winnie are adjusting well to their little sister. Michael and I make sure to give the girls some 1 on 1 time when Lily is sleeping so they don't feel left out. I'm sure Bean was thinking about packing her bags and heading to Grandpa's when we came home with Lily...It was just her and I and then, Michael moves in, we get Winnie and now we come home with Lily.

It's A Girl!
Finly's eviction
Thursday, February 5th,
Today is Finly's "eviction" date.
I went to work this morning, and after some convincing from Michael, I only worked a half day. Around 1:00 I started to feel what I thought were Braxton Hicks contractions. Around 4:00 they were happening a little too often and realized that it was actual contractions. It figures, we're scheduled for an induction and Finly has decided to join the party.
Michael and I still went out to dinner at the Olive Garden since they weren't really coming in any consistent order and I knew it was going to be a long time before I could eat again. During dinner contractions became more regular, but nothing too bad.
We check into the hospital at 7, as scheduled. I was examined, and I still wasn't dilating so this means I still had to have the balloon catheter. :( They started the catheter at 8pm, and would remove it at 8am. I continued to have contractions throughout the night and early morning. They gave me an Ambien to help me sleep, but I didn't. It was a rough night.
Friday, February 6th,
8am, Catheter was removed this morning, water bag broken (ouch), and pitocin started. A pretty low key and unproductive morning and afternoon and I was dilating slowly. We finally got the ok to start pushing at 7pm, and around 8:30pm Dr. Tyler informed us that Finly is face down (sunny side up) and isn't really progressing. He said he'd let me push for another hour, but felt that we'd still end up with a c-section. I REALLY didn't want to go this route, but felt it was what we needed to do to make sure Finly arrived safely. They took me into the OR a little after 9 and Finly was delivered at 9:32pm.
Comments from the delivery room:
WOW! look at the size of the head!
That's a big baby!
The baby has a lot of hair.
Michael and I had to ask what we had, they were so surprised by the size of the baby they forgot to tell us what we had! :)
Everyone said "it's a girl". Lillian Grace had finally arrived!
Dr. Tyler told us after the delivery that she would've never arrived on her own, we would've ended up with a c-section anyway. This made me feel a little better about my decision.
Michael was amazing during the entire ordeal. I don't think I would've been able to labor as long as I did if it weren't for him. He was absolutely amazing. I don't think dad's get enough credit for all they have to endure as well. I know they don't have to deal with all the pain, but it pained him to see me so uncomfortable. He didn't eat or sleep, he was worried about just walking down the hall to get me water. He also got upset when we were waiting for the anesthesiologist to get me ready for my c-section because I was just lying there in pain and not doing anything. I'm so fortunate to have him.

41 week update
Doctors appointment was pretty uneventful. NST test was fine. I'm "almost" 1cm dilated. Dr. B said he wouldn't be surprised if I went early, but I don't feel that way. If I don't go on my own, we head to the hospital on Thursday at 7pm to start the induction. I'm still feeling good, and I'm still at work. Michael's mom is taking the girls to my parents for us tomorrow, she's so sweet! We're hoping that with the girls out of the bed that I can get some sleep, which hasn't been easy lately.
I kept saying I'd be late, and Finly would be a February baby...Be careful what you wish for. ;)
We've very anxious to meet Finly!

40 week update
Went to the doctor again today. We had a NST (non-stress test) done to check Finly's heartbeat. We also had an ultra sound to check fluids. Still have a soft cervix but only a fingertip dilation. After talking with our doctor we've decided to not do the induction on Sunday. If we go in on Sunday to start the induction we'll have a 50/50 chance of a c-section. If we wait, I can go on my own, or the longer we wait the more I can dilate on my own and decrease the chance of a c-section. With waiting our odd are 20/80 for a c-section, I like those odds much better! So the plan now is, we would go in on Thursday at 7pm, and would have the baby on Friday, February 6th. The 6th is also Michael's grandmother's 91st Birthday!
So...we wait!
So...we wait!

39 week update
We had another appointment today and Finly's in no rush. Cervix is a little softer, but nothing really. We talked about induction being on February 2nd if Finly doesn't come on his/her own. I hope it doesn't come to that, I'd prefer to go on my own.
Next appointment is on the 29th.
